Schloss Hof

The general's paradise. The fabulous world of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Palace. Garden. Estate farm. Paradise.
When Prince Eugene acquired the country estate in 1725, almost no one would have dreamed that the 15th c Renaissance citadel would be transformed into a majestic château de plaisance (pleasure palace) on the Danube.

Yet even more impressive than the palace and its estate farm is the incomparable garden extending from the western gate over seven terraces to the eastern gate. The most delightful flowers bloom in the reflections of the unique water cascades and in the broderie beds of the terrace gardens. This garden world on the Danube is arguably unmatched by any other in the world.

The prince of pomp and circumstances

The arias of the Baroque opera stars still resonate in the state rooms of the palace, courted by paintings and artworks by the most famous artists of the day. As if these venerable walls could speak, visitors find themselves transported to a magnificent world filled with the Baroque zest for life, the frivolous joy of being alive, and extravagant celebrations in a splendid natural setting. Prince Eugene would probably have enjoyed personally showing visitors this unique microcosm of floral grandeur, historical exceptionalism, and stately decadence.

Besides the imperial palace, there is much more to explore: the pastoral estate farm, the new adventure trails, a variety of special-theme gardens and the many rare species of domestic animals plus an adventure playground and the children and family world complete with a water playground.

Experience a Danube garden with unique architecture and floral diversity. Immerse yourself in Baroque savoir vivre, strolling in the largest palace complex in Austria, covering more than 50 hectares.
