Hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to Melk every year to pay a visit to the world-famous Benedictine abbey. Beneath the baroque masterpiece lies a cultural and historical gem. Melk, which has been a town since 1898 and was first documented in 831 as Medilica. The town opens up to its guests like a magnificent illustrated book in which you can leaf through, dream and experience more than 1000 years of Melk history.

The "Old Post Office", the town towers, the Gothic parish church, Sterngasse and the historic town houses are just a few examples.
