Unique in the world, part of a Roman quarter in Carnuntum has been reconstructed on its original site. Completely reconstructed houses with Roman underfloor heating, functional kitchens and magnificent wall paintings open a unique window into the Roman past of the early 4th century AD. The buildings provide a detailed insight into Roman life - as if the inhabitants had only just left the houses.
Amphitheatre Military City
The amphitheater is the only part of the former military city that is still visible. The impressive arena and a small multimedia exhibition bring the world of the gladiators back to life.
Museum Carnuntinum
Built in 1904 in the style of a Roman country villa, this building is Carnuntum's treasure house. In the current exhibition "Cosmopolitan City on the Danube Limes", visitors can experience the history from winter camp to major city up close. Original finds provide great insights into the life of the metropolis. The ideal introduction to a trip to Carnuntum!
