Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Baroque and let yourself be touched by the beauty of Prince Eugene's country estate in Marchfeld! Discover the magnificent palace, the unique baroque gardens and the idyllic estate with its flora and fauna. Schloss Hof was already famous as a venue for glittering events in the prince's time. Today, this tradition of opulent entertainment is continued with numerous events and festivals for the whole family as well as annually changing special exhibitions.
Converted into a hunting and country residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy in 1725, Maria Theresa acquired the ensemble in 1755 and had it expanded into the largest country palace complex of the Habsburg monarchy. To this day, the complex is characterized by three main areas that make Schloss Hof a Baroque work of art:
THE CASTLE
The staircase leads to the state rooms on the second floor. The tour begins in the north wing with the former residential apartment of Prince Eugene, which was remodeled for Emperor Joseph II. The rooms in the east wing, which offer a view of the magnificent garden, are dedicated in detail to the life and work of the art-loving general Prince Eugene of Savoy. Via the baroque chapel and the neoclassical banqueting hall, the path finally leads to Maria Theresa's apartments in the south wing.
Each room has fascinating features and vividly conveys the lifestyle of the 18th century.
THE GARDENS
The unique Baroque garden stretches across seven terraces that gently slope down to the March, inviting visitors to stroll through its lush flower beds, fountains and artistic stone sculptures.
THE GUTSHOF
One of the largest baroque estates in Central Europe is the idyllic setting for numerous themed gardens such as the herb garden, snack garden or Weinviertel garden and a refuge for many rare domestic animal breeds of old Austrian origin. In the popular children's and family world, everything revolves around baking, handicrafts and children's cultural programs at weekends and during the vacations. Two adventurous and exciting interactive tours allow guests of all ages to experience the estate in a playful way from the perspective of a stable boy or a maid.
TIP: NIEDERWEIDEN CASTLE - the private gem of Prince Eugene of Savoy
Niederweiden Castle is a real insider tip and only 3 km from Schloss Hof. It exudes a very special charm with the lightness of a French pleasure palace and the charm of a stately villa in Northern Italy. While the banqueting hall is decorated with graceful Chinese murals, the adjoining game kitchen offers baroque comfort.
