Vestiges of the Ancient Romans along the Danube Limes

Travel back in time and see what military and civilian life was like for the Romans in Tulln – explore the borders of the Roman Empire. Archaeological finds as well as Roman excavations and structures bear silent witness to Roman times. The city museum in Tulln explains the military significance of COMAGENIS, a base for the Danube fleet and a cavalry unit and tells tales of the life led by the soldiers and inhabitants of this fort.
ARRIANIS was a Roman fort located on the site of today’s Klosterneuburg Abbey, which also has one of the most fascinating systems of cellars in Austria.
On the tour through the abbey winery, the oldest in the land, you can delve into the history of wine production and view the four stories of Baroque cellars extending as far as 36m below the surface. You can follow up with a visit to the abbey wine shop and taste the fine quality wines for yourself.

Tip: Rent an e-bike at the Tourist Information Office in Tulln and explore the surrounding region from Tullnerfeld to Wagram.  Please make a reservation.
