In the heart of the Dunkelsteinerwald lies the beautiful pilgrimage church of Maria am grünen Anger.
The carved altar here is particularly worth seeing. It is a masterpiece of late Gothic carving. The side panels of the altar, which is dated 1509, show four stations from the life of the Mother of God. The central shrine depicts the coronation of Mary by two angels on the one hand and a collection of saints taking the poor souls into their midst on the other. The modern forms of decoration, such as fruit sticks and garlands, are striking.
