It is almost kitschy, how the garden and restaurant of Alter Klosterkeller nestle to the city walls of Dürn- stein, surrounded by vineyards and the shimmering blue ribbon of the Danube. The Alter Klosterkeller seems to feel comfortable at its place. Relaxed, knowing about its unique location, it catches its guests and allows them to take part of this timeless calmness. This place teases out an enraptured smile not only of tourists, but also of hard-boiled natives...

It is so beautiful here... On some places one can hear the Mariandl sing, and that is a good thing. Everybody needs a bit of cliché and perfect world. Good, that one can also hide this knowledge behind sun glasses, whilst lying in the grass, holding a glass of Grüner Veltliner in the hand, watching the Danube taking its steady and grand course and be just happy.
