The Schwaiger family has been running their winery opposite the church in Wösendorf since 1864. However, the wine tavern housed in the old winegrower's house (the vaults date back to 1440) has only been open since 1990. Wachau wines - mainly Grüne Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc -, home-distilled spirits and homemade grape and elderflower juice are served here around 90 days a year. This is accompanied by refined Heurigen cuisine, for example Blunzenstrudel with Krensauce, Hendlsülzerl with young onions and pumpkin seed oil, but also Waldviertler poppy seed cheese with currant chutney and of course the popular pastries depending on the season.
