Wachaubahn Rail Line

Climb aboard and enjoy the Wachau.

The Wachaubahn winds its way between and along vineyards, ancient walls and the mighty Danube on its way through the Wachau from Krems to Emmersdorf. This way of experiencing the Wachau is unparalleled in its intensity! The diversity of nature and culture in such a compact area is what makes the Wachau so magical. Traveling on the Wachaubahn unlocks this diversity in its full breadth and depth. It has already been operating well over a century (since 1909) and today serves as the rail connection between Krems and Emmersdorf.

The Wachaubahn runs on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from March 20 to November 28, 2021, and daily from May 29 to October 3, 2021. The shuttle bus to the Wachaubahn - bus line 721 (formerly WL6), operates during the season from Monday through Sunday along the route Emmersdorf - Melk - Schallaburg.

Passengers must make advance reservations to travel on the Wachaubahn.
