Between idyllic vineyards and impressive gorges, the second stage of the long-distance trail Kremstal-Donau carves its way through nature. Starting from the Roman town Mautern, the route lined with vineyards and walnut trees first leads to the natural monument Hohlweg Zellergraben. The impressive loess gorge with walls up to twelve meters high leads straight to Furth, where numerous taverns invite you to a relaxed break. Another highlight of the stage is the UNESCO World Heritage Benedictine Abbey Göttweig, which towers high above the path throughout the hike. Due to the short distance and the few altitude meters, the stage Mautern - Furth is also classified as easy. It is thus suitable both for leisure hikers and for sport-enthusiastic hiking beginners.
