  • Senftenberg ruins

The market town of Senftenberg in the lower Krems valley is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Wachau and Vienna. There is also a lot to discover in the well-known wine-growing community itself. Connoisseurs appreciate the high-quality winegrowing landscape and the wide range of restaurants - with down-to-earth cuisine and cozy wine taverns. Sights invite you to explore. Extra tip: The NUHR Medical Center offers extensive health services and therapies.

Vacations in Senftenberg: top winemakers, motocross & camping by the river

Wine taverns, wine houses, wineries: wine fans and gourmets will find a wide variety of restaurants throughout the municipality of Senftenberg. It is not without reason that the top winegrowers of the Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) wine-growing region are located here. Families with children in particular love the Senftenberg campsite directly on the Krems river. In the village of Imbach, on the other hand, things are particularly fast-paced: races for the Austrian national championship have been held on a 1,400-metre motocross track since 1982.

Sightseeing in Senftenberg: from castles to villas

The imposing castle ruins of Senftenberg are enthroned on a high rock - and are considered the town's landmark. In contrast, there is hardly anything left to see of the ruins of Imbach Castle. However, its foundations show a structure from the 12th century - and are therefore an important reference to early castle construction. The parish church of St. Andrew also promises an interesting visit: the medieval fortified church was built over several hundred years from the 12th century onwards. The landscape is also dotted with pretty town houses, wayside shrines and villas.
