The Altes Presshaus wine tavern in Dürnstein is a charming and traditional restaurant in the middle of the picturesque Wachau region, which delights both locals and travelers with its history, atmosphere and range of products.

The building dates back to 1713, which gives the Altes Presshaus a rustic, historic flair. A special feature is the old tree press from 1752, one of the oldest in the Wachau. It was still in operation until 2003. This historic wine press is preserved as a central piece of the building fabric and makes the house unique. During renovations, great importance was attached to preserving the original structure and character of the house.

The Altes Presshaus is located in the heart of the winegrowing town of Dürnstein, directly opposite the famous "Schmidl" bakery. A cozy pub garden invites you to linger, while the cellar room inside offers an equally charming ambience. If you take a stroll along the Danube promenade, you can reach the Presshaus in just a few minutes on foot.

The house is run by the Schmelz family; Christian and Markus and their family serve guests their own wines and wines from other regional winegrowers. The menu includes traditional dishes: home cooking, hearty delicacies such as bratwurst sausages, Presshaus specialties, vegetable and potato gröstl, soups and sweet pastries such as strudel and pancakes. Parties and celebrations are also possible - hot and cold buffets can be booked in advance.
