At the end of the 10th century, St. Michael's Church was by far the only parish church and is one of the oldest church foundations in Eastern Austria. The fortifications were built between 1500 and 1530. St. Michael's is also famous for its Gothic chancel built around 1395.

The Gothic church was built between 1500 and 1523. Worth seeing are the Gothic Man of Sorrows (around 1400), figures of apostles and a Pieta from the time of the Danube School (1520).

The church organ is a real rarity. Built in 1650, it is one of the oldest in Austria. In the chapel of the charnel house (built in 1395) you can still see, among other things, 2 Josefinische parish coffins, so-called savings coffins, from 1784.

A defense tower and the remains of walls with embrasures are evidence of the former fortifications. Today, the church is mainly used for weddings and cultural events (concerts). Tour groups with priests can also celebrate mass here at any time.

TIP: Concerts are also held regularly in the fortified church!
