The small parish of Senftenberg zum hl. Andreas probably originated in the 12th century as a subsidiary of the parish of Krems from a manorial benefice. However, there are no documentary references until relatively late: the Senftenberg family was first mentioned in 1197.
The interior was largely baroqueized in the 18th century. Significant parts of the decoration come from the school of Kremser Schmidt. The church is surrounded by a well-preserved medieval defensive wall, with a covered passage connecting it to the castle hill.
