The Rossatz section of the Austrian Alpine Club, which was founded on February 12, 1881, erected the "Sandl Tower" in the spring of the same year, an approximately ten-metre-high wooden lookout tower, which was covered and therefore also functioned as a shelter.

Today, the 16-metre high Weigl-Warte made of stone stands on the Sandl (723 m) between Weißenkirchen and Dürnstein.

From Krems-Stein to Egelsee and approx. 5 km in the direction of Weinzierl am Walde, you can park your car in Sandl at the "Sandlbauer". The key for the control room can be collected from the "Sandlbauer" and after a 5-minute easy walk you will reach the control room. The key is available from the Ettenauer family ("Sandlbauer").
