The Aschauer family has been cultivating their vineyards in Unterbergern, on the south-eastern edge of the Wachau, since 1898. Around 6.5 hectares of vineyards and around 180 apricot trees characterize the business, which combines tradition with modern training and sustainable management.
As a member of Vinea Wachau, wines are produced in the classic Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd quality levels. The winery attaches great importance to natural cultivation: the use of machinery and plant protection is reduced to a minimum, and manual labor remains a central element despite technological advances. Measures such as grape reduction and targeted foliage management are used to ensure high grape quality.
The wine tavern is traditionally run in a historic, listed vaulted room with seating for around 135 people. The sun-drenched inner courtyard offers additional space for around 120 guests and is equipped with a children's playground - ideal for a relaxed visit in the countryside.
The culinary offerings include homemade specialties such as smoked meat, black pudding, liver pâté and presskopf - typical Heurigen classics that combine tradition and taste. In addition to the Heurigen business, apricots play an important role: the "Original Wachau apricot" is either offered fresh or processed into jam, chutney and apricot brandy.
You can spend several hours relaxing in the Heurigen restaurant - be it with wine and apricot specialties, homemade snacks or the special ambience of a historic vault and cosy courtyard.
