Lesehof Stagård in Krems an der Donau looks back on over 1,000 years of winemaking tradition. The family-run winery combines this long history with a clear focus on sustainable, quality-oriented viticulture. For generations, the special vineyards of the Wachau and Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) have been cultivated here to produce authentic wines full of character.
The range focuses on Riesling and Grüne Veltliner, supplemented by selected other grape varieties. The vineyards are located in partly steep terraced sites, characterized by barren primary rock soils that give the wines their typical minerality. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic guidelines - no synthetic chemical pesticides or herbicides are used. Instead, the focus is on manual work, careful soil cultivation and the preservation of biodiversity.
The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in order to process only the best, healthy grape material. In the cellar, traditional methods are combined with modern technology. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, long maceration times and gentle pressing are essential elements in giving the wines depth and expression. Ageing takes place predominantly in large wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks in order to preserve the original characteristics.
The wines of Lesehof Stagård stand for precision, site character and longevity - a reflection of the unique cultural landscape of the Wachau and Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German).
