Spitz, a central town in the heart of the Wachau, is an ideal starting point for excursions and hikes. Numerous sights such as the shipping museum in the former Erlahof reading yard, the late Gothic three-aisled church from the 15th century as well as the ruins of the Hinterhaus, Gothic town hall, Spitz Castle, old farmsteads, Red Gate, "Thousand Bucket Hill" (in the middle of the village) and the Spitz-Arnsdorf roller ferry with the "Camera obscura" by Olafur Eliasson document the cultural wealth. Danube riverside promenade (2 km), hiking trails, cycle paths, Jauerling Nature Park (959 m), outdoor pool, beach volleyball court, tennis courts and children's playgrounds, bike hire, guided tours of the village, historic store, cozy wine taverns.
