Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche

The two-storey monastery with an almost square courtyard adjoins the church to the north. Most of it dates back to the 18th century. The monastery was dissolved in 1790 and the church was profaned soon afterwards. It was subsequently used as a tobacco warehouse and fire station, and later as an exhibition space. From 1992 onwards, music and sound art concepts specially tailored to the spatial characteristics of the church were repeatedly developed, since 2002 (renovation and equipment with professional lighting and audio technology) under the name "Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche".

Today, the Klangraum Krems is home to the festivals "IMAGO DEI" at Easter time, "KONTRASTE" in the fall as well as individual concerts and performances of the GLATT&VERKEHRT and DONAUFESTIVAL festivals. In early summer, sound installations by renowned international artists make the church space accessible and tangible to the public for several weeks outside of the concert events.

In 2007/08, the Frohner Forum (in a modern exhibition extension) was opened in the area of the former monastery, and the Ernst Krenek Forum and Museum Stein were opened on the upper floor.

As a versatile location, the Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche offers the perfect setting for symposia, weddings, receptions, company celebrations, presentations and much more!

The atmospheric church, which was completely renovated between 2001 and 2003 and equipped with modern technology, offers a magnificent setting for concerts and events of all kinds. The adjoining Minorite Monastery offers exhibition space as well as newly designed rooms that are ideal for events and receptions.
