A Wachau synthesis of the arts in terms of architectural history and cuisine. Established 700 years ago as a wine pressing house and later rebuilt by the builder of Melk Abbey, Jakob Prandtauer, the Baroque estate of Barbara and Karl Holzapfel is home to one of the best wineries in the Wachau, an award-winning distillery for fine spirits and a top-class restaurant. Particularly charming: the romantic inner courtyard with its arcades and its own chapel for weddings and baptisms. Creative, down-to-earth local specialities and classics made primarily from regional ingredients are served in a rustic atmosphere. The four pretty farm rooms, including 1 suite in the arcade wing, are large and comfortably furnished in bright, cheerful colours from the British “Designers Guild” label.
